Set up your Rhizome Account

  • Go to the Rhizome sign up page: http://rhizome.org/preferences/register.rhiz
  • Enter your BROWN e-mail address and a password of your choosing.
  • Wait for an e-mail in your inbox and verify your account.
  • Go to the home Rhizome webpage: http://rhizome.org/
  • Fill in your username and password in the upper right corner of the screen, and press login.

Add artworks to your exhibit

  • Click on the blue tab that says "Art" on the top left of the screen.
  • From here, you will browse for artwork that interests you. You can either:
  1. Look at works put up on the general Art Base page.
  2. Browse by Artist, by Title, or by Creation Date.
  3. Find artwork according to keyword or tag (what Rhizome calls "Active Terms").
  4. Search for an artwork in the search box on the top right of the screen.
  5. My personal favorite is active terms, but a combination of all methods to find artwork works well.
  • When you see a work you'd like to add to your exhibit, click on the link labeled "Add this work to your Exhibit>>". The link should be a little below the work description and active terms, but above the biography (if the work has a biography) on the work's page.
*And then you can continue adding works to your exhibit.

Finalize your exhibit

  • When you are done adding artworks, go back to your exhibit page: http://rhizome.org/preferences/exhibit.php
  • Give your exhibit a title and description.
  • If you are good with Photoshop/GIMP, make a GIF banner 405x170 pixels (or you can follow this tutorial to learn how to resize a picture using picnik).
  • Fill in a description for each artwork.
  • Make sure you check the box that says "Open Your Exhibit to the Public"
  • Save changes and you are good to go.
  • If you know you clicked the "Open Your Exhibit to the Public" checkbox and saved your curation, and you still cannot see your exhibit, see if you can find your work on this exhibit list

Note: feel free to add or remove artworks/descriptions to your exhibit whenever you want. You can "Save Changes" and update your exhibit as many times as you would like.
